Swim Instructor Job Description:
SafeSplash Swim Instructors are the most important members of our staff! In this position, you will spend your time directly working with students and teaching them swimming skills in accordance with the SafeSplash curriculum. We consider our instructors true swimming professionals. Our Swim Instructors typically specialize in a particular skill range (e.g., water safety, introduction to water, or competitive technique).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of Swim instructor (including but not limited to):

  • The main focus of a swim instructor is to teach swimming skills in accordance to SafeSplash curriculum in a fun, positive manor.
  • Provide continuous, positive corrective feedback to students and parents on their swimming efforts. 
  • Structure class time appropriately to incorporate repetition, reinforcement, and introduction of required skills.
  • Ensure swimmer safety.
  • Maintain proper equipment and time organization to ensure timely class start times. 
  • Provide Deck Supervisor with class information (ribbons, student changes, etc) to keep proper class organization.
  • Provide parents with monthly, individualized feedback on swimmers during show ‘n’ tell week. 

Swim instructors must be willing to commit to the same shift for 4+ months. We are indoors and year round, and consistency is very important to us. You can pick the day/times you wish to teach, but after you pick schedule you must be willing to commit.

Deck Supervisor and Lifeguard Job Description:
The deck supervisor is a lifeguard on duty.  They are responsible for observing and patrolling the pool area, enforcing safety regulations as outlined in American Red Cross Lifeguard standards. Deck supervisors are also responsible for assisting swimmers in and around the pool area as well swim instructors as needed.   Other duties include: efficiently managing swim class attendance, assisting swimmers from the lobby changing area to the pool area, promptly keep classes as scheduled, minor pool maintenance and upkeep and other duties as outlined by the management staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the pool area; acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of customers in the event of an emergency. 
  • Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
  • Prepares and maintains appropriate incident reports.
  • Presents professional appearance and attitude at all times, and maintains a high standard of customer service.
  • The secondary focus is to guide the swimmers from the lobby to their classes in a timely manner as outlined by management.  This will include making sure that the kids are properly prepared for swim lessons.
  • Efficiently manage daily class routines without taking away from class safety including (attendance, ribbon changes, swimmer needs, instructor needs and assist parents as necessary) 
  • Performs various duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility.

Hours:
3-20 hours per week, year-round.

Qualification and special skills:

  • Previous swim instructor experience and/or swim background 
  • CPR/AED certification required
  • Lifeguard/First Aid certification preferred 
  • Excellent customer service
  • Previous experience working with children in a structured learning environment- we are willing to train to ideal candidate for the position!
