Serra Center, a non-profit corporation, has been committed to providing dignity, respect and choice to persons with intellectual disabilities since 1975. We are currently seeking Full-time and Part-time Direct Support Professionals for our residential care homes in Fremont.
Direct Support Professionals are needed to provide support and training in activities of daily living to adults with intellectual disabilities. Job duties are performed in our team-oriented 6 bed residential care homes, at a 1:3 staff-to-client ratio. Duties include support with cooking, cleaning, bathing, personal hygiene, community integration, socialization, dispensing medication, assistance with transferring to/from wheelchair. Monthly mandatory in-service trainings meet on-going educational requirements for CNA's and LVN's.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Flexible and patient personality, high school diploma, higher education in related field or personal experience regarding persons with intellectual disabilities. Department of Justice fingerprint clearance, valid CDL and clean driving record a must.
Current Openings:
Position #1: Full-Time with Benefits (40 hours per week) – The DSP will work with clients at a 1:3 staff-to-client ratio in two different group homes in Fremont. Applicants must be able to commit to the following shifts:
Saturday and Sunday- 8:00am-8:00pm
Tuesday- 3:00am-10:00pm
Wednesday- 2:00pm-10:00pm
Full-time benefits: PPO or HMO Medical, Dental, Vision, Pension Plan (employer/employee funded), Employee Assistance Program (EAP), Paid Leave, Vacation, Sick and Holidays.
Position #2: Part-Time (34 hours per week) - The DSP will provide 1:1 support to a female client in hospice care and must be able to commit to at least 2 of the following shifts:
Monday, Tuesday & Thursday- 7:00am-3:00pm
Saturday OR Sunday- 6:00am-4:00pm
Position #3: Part-Time (up to 24 hours per week) - The DSP will provide 1:1 support to a male client. Applicants should be energetic, willing to perform daily exercise regimen with client, as well as provide emotional support and behavioral intervention when needed. Applicant with behavioral intervention experience and knowledge of de-escalation techniques preferred to support client during crisis and episodes of self-injurious behavior. Applicants must also be able to commit to at least 2 of the following shifts:
Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday- 2:00pm-6:00pm
Serra Center is also actively seeking On-Call Staff. This position requires no time commitment; shifts will be offered as they become available and based on applicant availability.
