JOB DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES:
Mission and Philosophy

The Jordan Richter Skateboard Academy (JRSA) creates a wholesome environment in which children can grow emotionally and build their social skills while at the same time having an awesome learning experience. We aim to teach real skills, both physical and mental, which all-young people can benefit from. We honor the uniqueness of each student, while encouraging fun and friendship. Our positive and enthusiastic staff are trained to inspire self-confidence, the love of a healthy lifestyle, and teamwork in every participant.

JRSA seeks to dramatically expand its work in the Bay Area in the coming years, aided by strong support from its professional and lay leadership and driven by a new core professional leadership team.  In the next few years, JRSA will build and expand its activities in several key markets, and seeks to build the necessary professional staff to lead and manage towards that success.

Positions
JRSA is looking for experienced, enthusiastic and focused skateboard instructors/mentors who are committed to promoting healthy skateboarding amongst children ages 6 – 12 years old. Instructors must be passionate about giving children the best possible experience while being a positive role model. The well-being of JRSA participants is top priority at all times. Instructors must be able to establish a supportive relationship with campers/students, parents and Park and Rec personal.   JRSA is hiring 7 Skateboard Instructors for (7) skateboard camps to be held this summer in the San Francisco Bay Area.  Positions include Lead, Assistant Lead, and unpaid internships.

Skateboarding Camp Details
Why: To increase the safety, skills and confidence of beginner skateboarders
Dates: June 21st, 2014 and August 22nd, 2014 (varies depending on site)
Hourly wage: $12 - 15/hour depending on experience

Qualification and special skills:
  • Passion for teaching
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good sense of humor
  • Highly professional demeanor
  • Valid driver’s license and a car
  • Must be at least 18 years of age. 
  • CPR and Red Cross Certified
Job Requirements:
  • Must be willing to follow JRSA skateboard designed curriculum during skate camps.
  • Must be willing to incorporate youth empowerment language and development into classes.
  • Must be willing to wear safety equipment (helmet and pads) while instructing.
  • Must have ability to store and transport skateboard class equipment.
  • Must be able to attend instructor training in spring and lead skateboard camps during the summer.
  • Must maintain a safe environment and class demeanor.
  • Must not perform skateboard tricks that place participants at risk of injury.
